The Bramley Engines is a comic strip made by Dark DJ prior to the creation of The Dark Railway Series. Made in either late 2010 or early 2011, it was later uploaded to YouTube in a video format in 2012.

Plot[]

Two tank engines named Collette and Parkfield live on a branch line at Bramley. Parkfield wants to go out onto the mainline, and pleads with Dave, the big green engine, to let him help with the first mainline train. Eventually, Dave agrees, but only for as far as the first mainline station. Parkfield is too excited to listen to Dave's warnings about the changes on the mainline, and once they are underway, tries to go faster.

However, when they get out onto the mainline, Parkfield suddenly suffers cylinder cramp due to the high speeds. He is uncoupled from the train, and Raymond helps him back to the shed, telling him that this was the reason that he didn't agree to take him on a train himself. When he returns home, Collette tells him that she hopes he has learned his lesson, but even as she falls asleep, Parkfield is already planning his next adventure.
