Lake was built in August 1892 as a temporary terminus for the line whilst Walschurch Viaduct was being built. The location was selected due to the small crop of cottages located nearby on the banks of Lake Walschurch.
Once the viaduct was completed, and Walschurch Station itself was built, Lake became a request halt only, but was used regularly by locals who wanted to go shopping in Walschurch.
The halt did not change much over it's 75 year existance, apart from the provision of waiting shelters. It was found during 1968 that the old platform was in a very poor state of repair, and was demolished during the railway's doubling programme.
Layout and FacilitiesEdit
The original halt had one single brick built platform, with two waiting shelters.
Accidents and IncidentsEdit
- In 1908, a passenger was killed whilst crossing the line at Lake, when a train collided with him.The gentleman, Mr Archibald McFarridge, was deaf, and did not hear the train approaching, despite visual warnings from a fellow passenger.

- Lake is currently the least seen location in the series.
