Outro

Autumn is the ninth episode of the eighth series of The Dark Railway Series.

PlotEdit

Ever since the arrival of Barry, Abomination has found himself generally sitting around at Walschurch with little to do. He has become complacent with this arrangement, and when the steam engines are forced to cover during the diesel strike, Abomination initially refuses to help out, claiming it is not his job. Eventually, Brian informs Mr. Dark of this, and Abomination suddenly finds himself doing much more work around the railway, driving the tank engine to exhaustion.

Meanwhile, Brian is assigned to handle commuter and local passenger trains. This causes him to reminisce about his past, and his thoughts soon drift to his old girlfriend, Rose. Because of Warrior's arrival, Brian becomes convinced that Rose might have been preserved, and is eager to try and track her down. Eventually, Brian approaches Mr. Dark and asks him about trying to find her. However, Mr. Dark reveals that he had in fact inquired about buying Rose when Brian was first bought, but his offer was declined. In 1962, Mr. Dark decided to approach BR again about buying her, but learned that she had been withdrawn earlier that year. To Brian's dismay, Mr. Dark tells him that he was too late to try and save her. He tries to assure Brian that Rose would be proud of what he has become, before the pair bid each other goodnight and Brian leaves.
